Brave is my grandson. He was diagnosed with ASD when he was 2 yrs old. He will be 6 this November. His Mother & I feel a certain psychic wave from him. He knows things & understands things that seem way beyond his young years.
One day I had my grandson while I was out rummaging. I had to keep reminding him to stay by me so he can be safe. It was a good day of rummaging and we were winding it down at a local rummage. Once again I reminded him to stay near, BUT when I heard the lady say: “OH LOOK.” I knew it was my grandson. We ALL turned to witness him hug one old man whose deeply-lined, stoic face suddenly brightened like the first sun of the day because a little boy was hugging him. I looked at the man’s face and was grateful to see him smiling. Then I looked at my grandson’s face and he was smiling and his eyes were closed as he hugged the old gent. Everyone’s heart opened that day to the love of one little boy, who happened to be my grandson and who happened to have autism. Grandson’s name is Brave!
